Programme Outline

MA Manuscriptology Programme is intended to impart knowledge and skills required for a practitioner of Manuscriptology in India, especially Kerala and abroad. The course covers the core concepts and practices in manuscriptology along with an effective introduction to allied areas like palaeography, archaeology, museology, epigraphy, numismatics, etc. The programme will provide a solid foundation in ancient scripts like Brahmi, Nandhi nagari, Grantha and vattezhuthu. The proposed programme will provide hands on training in reading and writing old scripts, manuscript editing, textual criticism and cataloguing of manuscripts. It will also provide practical knowledge in the conventional and modern techniques of conservation of manuscripts. The programme will train students to develop into professionals with a high level of manuscriptology skills and understanding of this crucial area.
